My goal for this blog series is to chronicle my creative ventures during this weird period where COVID-19 shutdown the world. While I wasn't doing any sewing or creating for bonseye design, I did still manage to be creative despite the crazy in the world.
On March 12, my boss at my day job told me that he thought it'd be a good idea for me to start working from home. It wasn't that surprising since he and I had been having daily talks about COVID since the end of January. We import many goods from China and we had been in constant contact with our factories there. I was grateful that I was able to do my job from home, especially as so many businesses started shutting down and laying off employees. Even when my employer laid off employees I continued to work 5 days a week.
When you sit at home alone in a pandemic you tend to do a lot of thinking. LOL. One day at the end of April, it occurred to me that I was annoyed with my hair and a professional haircut might be months away. I had been growing my hair out to donate and I just decided there was no time like to present. Soooo... I dug out the hair cutting scissors and went to it!
It's probably worth mentioning here that many years ago I had a cosmetology license. I attended cosmetology school during high school. In the end I didn't care for doing that full time and let my license expire after a few years, but I have the basic knowledge of hair cutting. It's a completely different beast cutting your own hair though...
That night I cut 13 inches off the longest part of my hair!!
I still need to send my hair in. I didn't do it right away because they weren't taking donations due to COVID. Now I just keep forgetting. I'll be donating to Maggie's Wigs 4 Kids in Michigan. If you'd like to make a donation, of either hair or money, you can go here for all the info www.wigs4kids.org
Since the big chop I've cut my hair 5 or 6 more times. I keep thinking now is the time to experiment since if it goes badly, no will will see it anyway! LOL. It keeps getting shorter and shorter. Its probably a good thing I don't own clippers! One of these days I'll go get a proper haircut but for now I'm pretty happy with how it looks.
Stay safe... Stay healthy... Stay creative
